Description
Shannon is a mage who has lived for centuries under a curse of immortality, though she has convinced her new friend Kyle that she is a perfectly normal mortal woman no older than she appears. Growing weary of her eternal existence, Shannon actively seeks to end her life, yet her efforts have repeatedly failed. Poisonous mushrooms, falls from cliffs, and the simple passage of time have all proven ineffective at granting her the death she desires. Undeterred, she continues her quest for a successful method, exploring options like facing a dreadful dragon, concocting a toxic tincture, or navigating deadly dungeon traps.
The story unfolds in a fantasy world where magic is real and immortal beings, while rare, are not entirely unheard of. Shannon travels across this landscape, encountering various people and situations as she pursues her morbid goal. Rather than following a single continuous plot, the narrative adopts an episodic structure. Each chapter or sequence of chapters follows Shannon as she arrives in a new location, attempts to orchestrate her own demise in increasingly creative ways, and inadvertently ends up helping the people she meets instead.
Kyle serves as a key figure who anchors Shannon to a degree of normalcy, unaware of her true nature and her secret agenda. As Shannon drags him along on her adventures, her inability to be honest about her intentions leads to a recurring cycle of misunderstandings. The comedy of the series arises from this gap between Shannon's internal desire for oblivion and the external reality where her actions, born from a death wish, paradoxically bring life and solutions to the problems of others. The narrative arcs are defined by these episodic journeys, where each new location and its inhabitants present a fresh opportunity for Shannon to try to end her life, only for the attempt to backfire in a way that forces her to continue living.
