Description
Kano Yuri is a fourteen-year-old middle school student frustrated with her unchanging, directionless life. After a bitter fight with her mother, she runs away from home, searching for solace or perhaps a way out. Seeking shelter overnight in an abandoned air-raid bunker, she falls asleep only to wake up in a completely different time: Japan in the year 1945, during the final months of World War II.

Stranded alone in a past she does not understand, Yuri meets Akira Sakuma, a twenty-year-old young man from northern Japan who was studying philosophy at Waseda University before being conscripted into the military. He is now a pilot assigned to a kamikaze unit, preparing for his final mission. Despite his heartbreakingly doomed fate, Akira is kind and courageous, and he helps Yuri when she is unable to move due to pain or exhaustion. As the two spend time together in the wartime setting, their connection deepens, and Yuri finds herself torn between the modern world she came from and the boy who makes her want to stay. The story follows her emotional journey as she grapples with the knowledge of Akira's inevitable fate while navigating a past defined by loss and sacrifice. The narrative explores themes of love that transcends time and the painful beauty of meeting someone fated to disappear.
