Description
The story continues from the events of Canis: Dear Mr. Rain, with the enigmatic young man Ryou now living and working at the Tokyo hat shop owned by Satoru Kutsuna, a skilled craftsman known as the mad hatter. Their domestic routine is upended when Satorus longtime friend and rival, Gotou, secretly enters him into New York Fashion Week. Despite initial reluctance, Satoru accepts the challenge, seeing it as an opportunity to break free from a prolonged creative slump that has made him doubt his own abilities. As Satoru immerses himself in designing a new collection, he draws inspiration from his memories and his growing bond with Ryou, eventually creating a signature blue hat intended specifically for him. The entire shop staff travels to New York, where a crisis emerges when the scheduled model for Satorus showcase is unable to walk the runway. Ryou, who possesses an unexpected familiarity with the world of fashion, volunteers to take the models place. His appearance on the catwalk is a stunning success, but it also exposes him to his past. Ryou encounters old acquaintances from his former life in New York, including a man named Chase, who delivers a chilling revelation: the mob boss Ryou believed was dead is still alive. Faced with the resurgence of the dangerous world he fled, Ryou decides to remain in America to confront his history, forcing a painful separation from Satoru. The narrative moves between Satoru trying to maintain his composure and resume his life alone in Tokyo and Ryou reconnecting with figures like Harold, his formidable former boss, as the lingering threats of the criminal underworld resurface. The central conflict lies in whether the two men can overcome the secrets and dangers that drove them apart, while also navigating the unspoken romantic feelings that have developed between them. Key arcs include Satorus internal struggle with artistic identity and the pressure of his own fame, and Ryou’s direct confrontation with the violent mafia ties he thought he had escaped, culminating in a choice between staying in America to resolve his past or returning to the quiet life he built in Japan.
