Raizo is a successful and popular creator of boys love manga, known for his cool, laidback demeanor and handsome looks. His stories are notably dark in tone and sell very well. In stark contrast is TOS, the pen name for a man named Shinobu, who also draws BL manga. TOS produces stories that are light, fluffy, and sweet, but his severe social awkwardness and difficulty with communication mean his works are far less popular than Raizos. The two are complete opposites in both their artistic styles and their personalities.

Their paths cross when TOS, who is a loyal and adoring fan of Raizos work, approaches him under the guise of wanting to shadow him and pick up professional tips. Raizo, not realizing that this odd fan is actually one of his own favorite manga creators, agrees to the arrangement. Following an evening of drinking and intense conversation, the two unexpectedly begin dating, despite Raizo having previously identified as a straight man.

The humor and drama of the story largely derive from this clash of personalities. Raizo is frequently perplexed and amused by TOSs bizarre, awkward behavior, while TOS struggles to reconcile his adoration for Raizos art with the reality of their new romantic relationship. Beneath the comedic surface, the narrative explores Raizos sexuality with surprising sincerity. His passion for drawing BL manga was initially inspired by his sister, an avid yaoi fan, but when she reacted negatively to the possibility that he might be gay, Raizo suppressed that part of himself and continued to identify as straight. His relationship with TOS forces him to begin questioning his true feelings and his identity.

The story continues in the sequel, Comic Party Wonder Love Love, which follows Raizo and Shinobu as they decide to move in together. Their domestic life is disrupted when Raizos sister, Rina, unexpectedly appears at their door. Raizo resolves to tell her about his new roommate and their relationship, but Shinobus well-intentioned but anxious attempts to help often backfire, creating further complications. Meanwhile, Shinobu struggles with feelings of inadequacy, unsure of how he, a self-described garbage larva with a failing career, can possibly contribute to a household with his rich, successful boyfriend. The series also has a spin-off titled Ore ga BL Manga no Heroine Nante Arienee!.
