Description
The fictional town of Carocheila is a destination for those who have been abandoned or who carry the weight of sin, a place where the forgotten and the guilty arrive with nowhere else to go. This setting serves as the backdrop for a four-part anthology series exploring the interconnected themes of sorrow, crime, betrayal, and the possibility of regeneration.

The narrative is split across two collected volumes, each containing two primary story arcs. The first volume, Maria-sama no Inai Machi, focuses on the tales Solitude and Enishida. In Solitude, a young girl named Sari plays the violin alone in the central plaza of Carocheila. Abandoned by her parents and consumed by loneliness, her life begins to change following an unexpected encounter with a stray cat. The second story, Enishida, follows the characters Eni and Sida, who are left to grapple with the sudden and unexplained departure of a loved one, forcing them to confront the void left behind.

The second volume, Na mo Naki Hitsuji-tachi no Machi, contains the arcs Kamikiri and Scissor. Kamikiri introduces a young girl named Myrrh, who is tormented by the belief that she is responsible for her mother's death. While riding a train with no particular destination, she ends up in Carocheila where she meets Lou, a young man who runs a barber shop. This encounter sets the stage for a story about the rebirth of a broken soul. The narrative continues in Scissor, which follows the quiet daily life that Lou and Myrrh begin to build together. Their fragile peace is disrupted by the arrival of a woman named Shenna, who shares an inescapable past with Lou, leading to a tale of atonement and the fragile nature of hope.

Across these four narratives, the anthology paints a portrait of Carocheila not just as a geographical location, but as a state of mind for its inhabitants. The characters, each bearing unique wounds of guilt and loss, interact in ways that explore how people can either remain trapped by their past or find a path toward healing. The collection also includes a special one-shot titled Mabuta ni Saku Hana, which was originally published in Harta magazine.
