Manga
Description
Tsumugi is a quiet and highly skilled seamstress living in a world where things constantly fall apart. Her solitary existence changes when she encounters Chise, a girl who is trapped somewhere between life and death, neither fully alive nor entirely gone. Tsumugi takes Chise into her care and begins to mend the girl's deteriorating physical form with delicate, careful stitches.

As Tsumugi repairs Chise's body, an unexpected and tender bond develops between the living seamstress and her undead companion. The story explores themes of care, acceptance, and the beauty found in people who are considered broken or damaged. It blends macabre, atmospheric elements with a deeply heartfelt romance, focusing on the labor of love and the lengths one person will go to for another who makes them feel whole.

The narrative is centered on the domestic life of these two young women. Tsumugi, whose world revolves around stitching and repairing, finds a new purpose in caring for Chise. Chise, existing in a liminal state, relies on Tsumugi not just for physical maintenance but for a connection to the living world. Their relationship is the core of the story, evolving from caretaker and patient to something far more intimate.

The manga originated as a doujinshi (self-published work) released by creator Sakura Kurihara at the Comic Market 99 event in December 2021. The story has been expanded through its official publication. Notably, several short stories are tied to the main narrative, including Melting Away in the Night, Lunch Time Traumerei, and The Young Lady is Dead, which provide further insight into the characters and their world. These additional tales weave together with the primary plot to form a more complete picture of Tsumugi and Chise's journey together.
