Description
Ren, a young alchemist exhausted by the relentless demands of the royal court, escapes to a remote border village rumored to be shrouded in perpetual twilight. Here, he hopes to find the rare Moonpetal flower needed for a crucial commission, but more importantly, a quiet life. The village, however, is not empty. Its sole other inhabitant is Grey, a taciturn and gentle ex-knight who lives as a recluse in a small cottage on the outskirts. Grey bears deep scars, both physical and emotional, from a past betrayal by his own order.

The story follows the quiet, reluctant partnership that forms between the two. Grey initially ignores Ren, but after Ren collapses from exhaustion near his home, Grey reluctantly provides shelter. Their days fall into a gentle rhythm: Grey tends to a small vegetable patch and maintains the village's forgotten shrine, while Ren explores the misty woods for his ingredients. As the season turns towards an unusually harsh winter, they must work together to secure food and firewood, leading to conversations that slowly peel back layers of their guarded pasts. A notable early arc involves Ren discovering that the "curse" of the eternal twilight is actually a local ecological quirk linked to the very flower he seeks, forcing him to choose between completing his mission or preserving the fragile peace of his new home.

A later, more dramatic arc begins when a patrol from Grey’s old order arrives, searching for a deserter. Grey is forced to confront his former comrades, while Ren must use his alchemy in ways he never imagined to protect the life they have built. This conflict tests their bond and forces both men to redefine what courage and redemption truly mean, culminating in a final choice that will determine if the grey twilight over their village remains a place of hiding or becomes a genuine sanctuary.
