Manga
Description
With only ten days remaining until a massive meteorite is predicted to strike Earth and end the world, an overworked and dispirited salaryman named Masumi Nishina decides to spend his final days in peace at his university’s library. There, he unexpectedly reunites with Ritsu Kusakabe, his ex-boyfriend from a decade ago whose betrayal and emotional cruelty drove Masumi to a mental breakdown and ruined his life. Ritsu, now a wealthy and charismatic IT CEO, makes a shocking proposition: he will give Masumi a painless suicide pill in exchange for help disposing of a corpse in his apartment.

When the two arrive at Ritsu’s condominium, they discover the supposed corpse is still alive: a 16-year-old high school student named Yuma Hirose, who had attempted to end his life following the death of his favorite idol and a romantic rejection. Encouraged by Masumi, Yuma regains his will to live and expresses a desire to return to his family in Hamamatsu. With public transportation shut down, the three reluctantly join together for a multi-day bicycle journey. Along the way, they rescue Meguru Kagami, a university student from Matsumoto who is also the younger sibling of the deceased idol Madoka Kagami, and the group decides to extend their trip to escort Meguru home as well.

During the journey, tensions rise when Meguru confronts Ritsu, revealing that Madoka had contacted Ritsu shortly before her death by suicide. The truth emerges: Madoka was a lesbian who was forced out of her girl group after a breakup, and Ritsu has carried guilt for being unable to save her. As the group bonds through these revelations, strange coincidences and seemingly miraculous events occur, leading Masumi and Ritsu to speculate that Yuma may possess supernatural powers. When Masumi suffers a serious injury during an accident, a distraught Ritsu confesses he is still in love with him and deeply regrets his past cruelty. Masumi eventually encourages Ritsu to confront his guilt, and Ritsu attempts to take the suicide pill himself before Masumi stops him, giving both men a renewed resolve to live.

The story weaves between the present-ten day journey and extended flashbacks to the protagonists’ university days, revealing how Ritsu’s manipulative behavior and serial infidelity destroyed Masumi’s trust and academic career. Ritsu is portrayed as a charismatic but emotionally damaged man whose upbringing warped his understanding of love, while Masumi struggles with lingering trauma and self-worth issues. Yuma’s innocent and pure-hearted nature serves as a catalyst for the group’s emotional healing, and many miracles that occur throughout the trip are attributed to his presence.

After successfully delivering Meguru to Matsumoto and paying respects at Madoka’s memorial, the group secures a car to return to Tokyo. On their way back, they notice the university library has burned down, and Masumi realizes he would have died there had he not encountered Ritsu. The two ex-lovers spend their final night together, reconciling their conflicted feelings. As the predicted time of impact arrives the next morning, Masumi dreams of a giant Yuma flicking the meteorite away. They wake to find the sun rising with no sign of the impending catastrophe, leaving the meteorite’s fate ambiguous.

The manga concludes with an open-ended resolution: whether the meteor actually struck or was miraculously diverted is left uncertain, emphasizing the characters’ personal transformations over the apocalyptic setting. A sequel side story, Another Ordinary Day with You (Bokura no Mikuro na Nichijō), was later announced.

The main characters include Masumi Nishina, a gloomy and overworked salaryman who has never recovered from his toxic relationship with Ritsu; Ritsu Kusakabe, a handsome and wealthy CEO who was known in university as a club killer for seducing and discarding members of multiple clubs, whose genuine love for Masumi becomes apparent only as the world ends; Yuma Hirose, a pure-hearted 16-year-old who inadvertently causes miraculous events and serves as the story’s symbolic hope; and Meguru Kagami, a university student who is the younger sibling of the deceased idol Madoka and who enjoys cross-dressing in lingerie.
