Description
Traumatized by a broken heart in middle school, a boy named Atobe always keeps his head down, moving through life with a deep lack of confidence. Though he finds himself interested in a classmate named Amakawa, his past wounds force him to maintain a careful distance, convinced he has nothing to offer. The story follows Atobe as he navigates the conflicting terrains of romantic feelings and sexual preference, a tension that forms the core of his internal struggle. Set in a contemporary Japanese high school, the narrative explores both the light and darkness of youth, questioning whether the protagonist's turmoil is solely about love or if something even more complex lies beneath the surface. As Atobe begins to interact with Amakawa, he is forced to confront his own identity and the trauma that has shaped his worldview, leading to a controversial and poignant examination of a young person trying to find solid ground.
