Manga
Description
When Ilulu first arrived in the human world from her own realm, she had every intention of causing chaos and destruction as a proud member of the Chaos Faction of dragons. Now, instead of terrorizing humanity, she works at a small candy shop in a quiet Japanese neighborhood. Her supervisor is Taketo, the teenage grandson of the shop's owner, a kind but easily flustered young man who finds himself constantly overwhelmed by his new coworker. Ilulu's complete lack of understanding about human social norms and her uninhibited, boisterous personality create a series of awkward and humorous situations. Her tendency to be physically forward, combined with her extremely revealing outfits and her ignorance of personal boundaries, frequently causes Taketo to suffer from embarrassing nosebleeds, much to his dismay. What Ilulu does not understand is why her playful teasing affects him so strongly or why she has begun to feel strange when he is kind to her. The human emotion of romantic love is a complete mystery to a dragon who has only ever known conflict.

The story is set in a contemporary Japanese city, primarily within the cozy and old-fashioned candy shop where Ilulu works and the modest apartment she shares with Kobayashi, the human office worker who befriended the dragon Tohru. Ilulu lives alongside Kobayashi, the devoted and powerful dragon maid Tohru, the adorable child dragon Kanna, and other dragon refugees like the gluttonous Elma and the ancient deity Lucoa. This household serves as a home base from which Ilulu ventures out each day to navigate human society, often with more enthusiasm than skill. The spin-off focuses on her specific relationships and growth, particularly her dynamic with Taketo. Tohru, who once fought against Ilulu, now acts as a semi-reliable mentor, offering advice that is often less than helpful due to her own eccentric views on human-dragon relationships. Kobayashi provides a more grounded, if emotionally reserved, source of stability and guidance, encouraging Ilulu to experience the human world for herself.

Several notable narrative arcs drive Ilulu's emotional journey. One early arc establishes her new life at the candy shop, where she must learn simple tasks like operating the cash register and stocking shelves, all while resisting her destructive draconic instincts when customers are rude. A significant storyline involves Ilulu gradually recognizing her own feelings for Taketo. When the shop owner suggests that Taketo should find a girlfriend, Ilulu experiences an unfamiliar and unpleasant sensation she cannot name, eventually identifying it as jealousy with help from her housemates. This leads to a comedic yet sweet arc where Ilulu tries to understand what it means to like someone, researching human dating customs with disastrous and hilarious results. Another key arc follows a dangerous incident from her past: a dragon hunter from the Harmony Faction tracks Ilulu down to eliminate her for her former crimes. Kobayashi risks her life to protect Ilulu, forcing the young dragon to confront the truth that not all humans are enemies, just as her parents had once believed before they were killed in the war between their worlds. This act of kindness solidifies Ilulu's place in Kobayashi's found family and deepens her desire to understand the human capacity for love and compassion.

Throughout the story, Ilulu's innocent curiosity about human intimacy remains a central source of comedy, as she fails to comprehend why certain topics or gestures are considered private or romantic. She treats physical closeness and displays of affection as casually as a child would, not understanding why her behavior makes Taketo so nervous. Her journey is about learning the difference between the destruction she was born to cause and the delicate, confusing, and rewarding act of caring for another person. As she spends more time with Taketo, experiencing everything from summer festivals to quiet afternoons at the shop, she begins to feel what might be love, a sensation far more powerful and frightening than any fire she breathes. The narrative follows her struggle to express these new emotions, ultimately discovering that even a chaotic dragon from another world can learn to have a gentle heart.
