Description
The story begins at a royal ball where Duke Erinas engagement to Crown Prince Girard comes to a sudden and humiliating end. Girard publicly abandons her for a commoner woman, casting aside the woman who was raised from birth to be his bride. Before Erina can even process the public disgrace, she is also accused of crimes she did not commit.

The king, furious with his sons reckless behavior, makes a swift and shocking decision. He strips Girard of his title and declares a new heir, Alvis. Alvis is a member of the Royal Guard and, though royal by blood, has never lived a life of privilege or expectation. He is a soldier, more comfortable with a sword in his hand than a crown on his head, and never imagined a future beyond his duty. The kings decree forces Alvis into two roles at once: he is now the crown prince, and to stabilize the political turmoil caused by Girards actions, he must also become Erinas fiancé.

The series takes place within the Luvelia Kingdom, a fantasy realm defined by rigid social hierarchy, imperial court intrigue, and the crushing weight of expectation placed upon nobility. The central conflict shifts from Erinas public ruin to the private struggle of two strangers bound by circumstance.

The narrative is told primarily from Alviss perspective as he grapples with his abrupt transformation from guard to prince. Most of the story follows him as he struggles to learn the duties of the heir, navigates the dangerous waters of court politics, and tries to reconcile his new responsibilities with his longing for his former life as a knight. He must learn everything from proper decorum to statecraft while also figuring out how to be a considerate partner to a woman who is essentially a stranger.

Erina, having been raised solely to be a princes wife, must now confront her own desires and reconcile her sense of duty with the possibility of finding true love with a man she never expected. Her role in the early narrative is more subdued, but she begins to emerge as Alvis makes deliberate, kind-hearted efforts to bridge the gap between them, such as taking her on walks and small dates to make her happy.

Notable narrative arcs include Alviss struggle to master his new life while missing combat, a conflict that is somewhat alleviated by his understanding father who finds a way for his son to maintain his knightly training. Another developing thread involves a mysterious blessing or power connected to a statue in the kingdom, which seems to have particular significance for Alvis. A review of the first volume notes the story begins with many familiar tropes of the genre but carves out its own identity by focusing almost entirely on the male leads perspective and his journey of growth. The art is noted for being particularly pretty, with the characters drawn elegantly. The overarching question is whether a love born purely from political arrangement can truly bloom into something real.
