Description
Summer Boy Blue follows the childhood friends Rinto and Michiru, who became estranged after their parents witnessed them engaging in a sexual act. Now both seventeen years old and having not spoken for some time, they unexpectedly reunite in the spring. Michiru had hoped to move on from the past, but Rinto stops him, repeating the same words he used during their first encounter. As they grow closer again, Michiru finds himself strongly drawn to Rinto. However, their connection is complicated by their different life circumstances and the lingering trauma of past wounds, causing Michiru deep emotional pain. Rinto displays a conflicted behavior, telling Michiru that he cannot interfere further in his life while simultaneously being unable to let him go. Set against the backdrop of adolescent development, the narrative explores the rekindling of first love, the complexities of emotional awakening, and the struggle to confront past hurt. The story follows the two boys as they navigate their complicated feelings, examining how a shared traumatic memory both pulls them together and threatens to tear them apart. The manga is written by Tono Miyako and was released in July 2025.
