Description
Sumire Kimino, a seemingly average high school student, has just transferred to a new all-boys school in Tokyo. On his first day, he immediately hears rumors about a legendary upperclassman, Suguru Tojo, who is hailed as the schools solitary Madonna for his breathtaking, almost feminine beauty. Although Tojo is revered from afar, he is known for being brusque and making no effort to interact with others, earning him a reputation as tough and unapproachable. While the rest of the student body admires him like an untouchable idol, Sumire unexpectedly finds himself in a situation where he jumps in to save Tojo from a fight. This impulsive act of bravery surprises Tojo, who takes a liking to the new student. Despite the clash between Tojos gorgeous exterior and his surprisingly rough personality, the two begin to spend their school days together.
As Sumire gets closer to Tojo, he discovers that his upperclassman is not just a beautiful face but a boy dealing with inner turmoil and past trauma. Though Tojo remains distant from everyone else, he reveals a surprisingly sweet and protective side towards Sumire, which makes Sumires heart thump with unfamiliar excitement. Their relationship deepens through shared daily experiences, slowly moving beyond a simple admiration. Just as Sumire begins to accept their growing bond, the narrative takes a sudden turn when, after Tojo is injured in another altercation, he unexpectedly kisses Sumire out of the blue, changing the course of their relationship forever.
The story follows these two opposite personalities as they navigate the complexities of first love, moving from a chance encounter and a tentative friendship into a more intimate and complicated romantic relationship. The manga, which is serialized in the boys love genre and published in English as Kimi no Sumire: Your Spring Flower by Animate International, originally ran for six chapters before being restarted. The plot features typical arcs including the initial transfer and meeting, the protective bond formed after a fight, the quiet moments of growing closeness, and the dramatic turning point marked by a sudden kiss. Later chapters delve deeper into the past experiences that shaped Tojo’s guarded personality.
