For a thousand years, the Kyogane clan has stood as a renowned bloodline of exorcists dedicated to eliminating the demons haunting Japan. The current head of the clan, Kuro Kyogane, is sharp-tongued and unyielding, with no interest in marriage or producing an heir. However, his family arranges a suitable bride for him, and he reluctantly agrees to fulfill his obligations, meeting a brave and optimistic young woman named Fuyu.

The wedding ceremony conceals a dark secret, as Fuyu is not who she initially appears to be. Beneath her beautiful exterior lies a hidden and dangerous secret connected to fox demons, or kitsune. Once Fuyu is declared Kuro's wife, she may never be safe from harm again. The young couple becomes plagued by a sinister curse, forcing them to roam the land in search of a cure.

Determined to protect their bond, Kuro must sever the shackles of fate and defy his destiny, fighting against forces that threaten to tear them apart. Their situation becomes even more desperate when they learn they have only seven days to get their marriage recognized by the Exorcism Agency before Fuyu is doomed to execution. Complicating matters further, an elite exorcist named Tsumugi Mikuriya, who comes from a family of puppeteers, intends to have Fuyu killed by demons so that she can claim Kuro for herself.
