Description
A young woman named Primrose has lived her entire life scorned by her own family and high society because of her violet eyes, which are reviled as the eyes of a devil. As the daughter of a duke, she is kept confined to her home to protect the family’s reputation. To make matters worse, she is then sent as a political hostage under the guise of an exchange student to the land of Sakurano, a place her homeland considers barbaric and cruel.
However, upon arriving in this unfamiliar country, her fate takes an unexpected turn when she meets a man named Asahi, a local warrior or bushi. Far from treating her with the contempt she is used to, Asahi immediately proposes marriage to her, setting the stage for a love story that blossoms in a foreign land. Her new life is filled with daily surprises and happiness, a stark contrast to her previous existence of isolation and disdain.
Primrose possesses a unique ability to foresee death, perceiving it as a dark haze around a person on the verge of dying. While she is accepted in Sakurano, she lives in constant fear that this secret power will be discovered and she will once again be labeled a monster and rejected by those who have shown her kindness. Her anxieties are put to the test when she sees the ominous sign of death begin to gather around Asahi, forcing her to decide whether to risk revealing her power to save him.
A major upheaval occurs when her brother makes a surprise visit to Sakurano. His arrival, along with the reemergence of unresolved conflicts with her father, brings the trauma of her past back into her present, creating emotional turmoil and complicating her new life. Through these trials, Primrose comes to fully realize the significance of Asahis presence and support, leading her toward a confrontation with her family and a final decision about where her true happiness lies.
