Manga
Description
At a Japanese driving school, thirty-year-old instructor Chiba is the favorite of every female student thanks to his kind manner, clear guidance, and handsome face. While he plays up his charms to secure good reviews, he is diligent about maintaining a professional boundary, politely but firmly rejecting all romantic advances. This practiced persona is put to the test when he is assigned a mysterious new student named Yaotome, also thirty, who has earned the nickname the Sharp-Suited Prince for arriving to every lesson in an expensive, immaculate suit. Despite his cool appearance, Yaotome can hardly compose himself behind the wheel, dissolving into panic and even mistakenly calling Chiba by a different name—Maki.

When Yaotome fails to return for a week after his disastrous first lesson, Chiba encounters him late one night in a disheveled state at a convenience store. The truth emerges: Yaotome is a manga artist who has been struggling with a tight deadline, and his absence was due to work. Chiba offers him a ride home, and a tentative connection forms. Yaotome eventually gains his provisional license and asks to exchange contact information, leaving Chiba wary of his intentions.

The central conflict of the story ignites when Chiba overhears a female student comparing him to Maki-san, a character from a popular shojo manga. Investigating the title, Chiba is horrified to discover that intimate interactions from his real life with Yaotome have been adapted directly onto the page. Given that his last relationship ended painfully a year ago when his ex-boyfriend left him for a woman, Chiba is left questioning whether Yaotome is genuinely interested in him or merely using him as a source of artistic material.

The narrative follows the awkward dance between these two men as they navigate a potential romance complicated by past trauma and professional boundaries. Yaotome, who struggles with anxiety as a beginner driver, finds calm only in Chiba's patient presence. The story reaches a turning point when the characters confront the manga manuscript directly, leading to an honest conversation about feelings and intentions. Yaotome reveals that his crush on Chiba predates the lessons, resolving the misunderstanding. The plot also introduces the return of Chiba's ex-boyfriend at a critical moment, adding further tension. The story concludes with a positive resolution and a domestic epilogue showing the couple after they have worked through their issues. Notably, the manga is a single-volume work with a focus on mature, honest communication rather than drawn-out misunderstandings, set against the mundane yet anxiety-inducing backdrop of a learner driver navigating the roads.
