Description
University student Ichika Nakajou has a problem: her flashy style and striking height make her appear intimidating and experienced, but she is actually a hopeless romantic who longs for a stable, normal relationship. Tired of casual flings, she attends a mixer looking for something real, only to find that the men there are only interested in her appearance. Her luck seems to change when she meets fellow student Kousei Sanari. Unlike the others, he is genuine and easy-going, and the two immediately hit it off while discussing their shared hobbies.
However, just as Ichika begins to fall for him, she discovers a major obstacle. Kousei is completely upfront about his intentions: he has no interest in a serious relationship and only dates casually. The series follows the push-and-pull of their connection as they find themselves naturally drawn together despite their conflicting goals. As their friendship deepens, Kousei sends mixed signals with small gestures that create intimacy while he keeps her at an emotional distance. Ichika is left torn between maintaining their effortless friendship or risking her heart to convince him to commit, even as her friends warn her that she is only hurting herself.
Known in Japan as Isso Anata ga Todome wo Sashite, the story is set on a modern university campus and focuses on the realistic, often frustrating dynamics of young adult romance. Early narrative arcs establish Ichika’s inner conflict as she tries to force a fun date with the reluctant Kousei, while later developments introduce moments that suggest Kousei’s fear of commitment stems from deeper secrets or past experiences hinted at but not fully revealed. The tension escalates as Ichika confronts the reality of seeing him interact with other women, forcing her to decide how much of her own romantic ideal she is willing to compromise for a chance with him.
