Description
A young woman reincarnates as Ortencia, the duke’s daughter and the villainess of an otome game she loved in her previous life. Having regained her past memories after a fall, she knows that her character is fated for a public exile ending. Despite her best efforts to avoid this fate, the story’s predetermined events seem to be closing in. She is summoned before a crowd for her condemnation, but the anticipated exile fails to materialize when the event reveals itself to be a farce built on false accusations, allowing her to narrowly escape the worst outcome.
Her relief is short-lived. Immediately following the failed condemnation, her cold and distant fiancé, Prince Ferixus, suffers a serious accident and loses his memory. Before the accident, their relationship was strained and distant. After waking up, the prince’s personality appears to transform completely, turning him from a reserved noble into an openly doting and clumsy young man, prone to tripping and expressing his affection without reserve. This sudden change leaves Ortencia confused and unsure how to proceed, as her previous knowledge of the game’s plot becomes useless in navigating this new development.
The story follows Ortencia as she tries to adapt to her fiancé’s amnesia and his newly affectionate behavior. She must balance her survival in a world that still holds dangers, including a rival noblewoman and the formal settings of aristocratic society. As the narrative progresses through various arcs, including a school festival where his drastic change becomes apparent and a kidnapping incident that forces them into real danger, Ortencia finds herself growing genuinely fond of the new Ferixus while facing a lingering question from those around her whether his memory loss is genuine or a deliberate act to break free from his previous persona.
As the story unfolds, the behavior of Ferixus’s mother also emerges as a suspicious element, prompting rumors that the prince’s transformation might be a carefully staged performance rather than the result of an accident. The work ultimately explores their developing relationship against a backdrop of court intrigue and the uncertainty of whether the prince will ever return to who he was before. The series is complete, spanning a total of eleven volumes.
