Description
Yui Nanjou is a twenty-eight-year-old office worker frustrated by her youthful appearance. Despite her age, colleagues and peers treat her as cute and small, undermining her attempts to be seen as a capable, mature adult. On the verge of giving up on changing how others perceive her, she encounters Mizuho Shiiba, a kimono-clad woman the same age who carries herself with an air of refined elegance.

Impressed by Mizuho's poise, Yui wonders if wearing a kimono could help her project the adult image she desires. Mizuho agrees to become her kimono tutor, and this arrangement marks the beginning of their friendship. As Yui learns the intricate art of wearing and coordinating traditional Japanese garments, she embarks on a journey of self-reflection. The process of choosing fabrics, layering collars, and tying obi sashes becomes intertwined with her growing understanding of who she is and who she wants to become.

What begins as a pursuit of external validation gradually transforms into a gentle romance between the two women. Yuis character arc involves unlearning heteronormative assumptions about relationships and learning to love herself alongside her growing feelings for Mizuho. While Mizuho appears effortlessly mature, she has her own struggles. People hold high expectations of her due to her composed exterior, yet she is easily distracted by her interests and has trouble navigating even familiar places. These challenges surface throughout the story but are resolved relatively quickly as the series moves toward its conclusion.

The narrative explores themes of self-expression through fashion, particularly how clothing shapes both personal identity and how others perceive us. Supporting sapphic characters appear outside the main couple, and the story focuses heavily on character development and personal growth alongside the central romance. Yuis journey of learning to wear kimono is inseparable from her journey of learning to love and accept herself.
