The story begins in a grand royal hall where the crown prince publicly and humiliatingly breaks off his engagement to his fiancée, the noblewoman Akuya Krei Jou. His announced reason is to pursue a relationship with a commoner named Sei Hi Roin, who has worked her way up through society with her intelligence and charm. In a surprising twist, Akuya does not react with tears or anger. Instead, she turns her attention to Sei, asking if she truly intends to stay with the prince. Akuya then boldly proposes that Sei come with her, promising to shower her with more passion and devotion than the prince could ever offer. Sei, quickly convinced, abandons the prince and immediately moves into Akuya's estate.

From that moment, the manga focuses on the new daily life of Akuya and Sei as lovers. The setting is a noble fantasy world, but the story uses this backdrop for a comedy and romance, subverting typical fairy tale tropes. Akuya is known by reputation as a villainess, surrounded by dark and exaggerated rumors, but she is revealed to be composed, attentive, kind, and highly educated.
