She is let go from her part-time job at a restaurant, and upon returning home, she discovers that her beloved old dog has died. Overwhelmed by grief, her loud crying attracts the attention of a scruffy, long-haired stranger living rough nearby who asks if she is alright. This man, Akio, manages to cheer her up, and Sara cooks him a meal to express her gratitude. In response, Akio proposes they go into business together, starting a catering company.

The story is set in a contemporary Japanese urban environment, following Sara as she accepts Akio's unusual offer and begins a new chapter in her life as a chef. The manga unfolds through major narrative arcs. The inciting arc establishes Sara's devastating day of loss and her chance meeting with Akio, leading to the formation of their catering business. Subsequent arcs focus on the operational challenges of starting a company from scratch and Sara's personal growth as a chef. The story consistently interweaves a supernatural family drama, as Sara must learn to coexist with her father's ghost and confront the reasons for her estrangement from her mother, all while developing her partnership with the mysterious Akio.
