Description
Takuya Watanabe is a nineteen-year-old who has moved from the countryside to Tokyo, searching for a sense of purpose but finding only the monotonous grind of a precarious contract job moving boxes of frozen meat in a factory. His days are reduced to transactional exchanges with coworkers, and he feels disconnected from his peers, believing himself to be a superior logical thinker in a world that doesn't make sense to him. In an attempt to break out of his stagnant life, he attends a dubious self-help seminar promising success, where he is confronted with a shocking, irrational thesis: only love can bring true happiness.
This seminar is the catalyst that plunges Watanabe into a disorienting new world governed by emotion, romantic theory, and, most dangerously, conspiracy. He meets a woman who he thinks might be the answer to this new equation, and his life becomes a messy conflict between his cherished logic and the chaotic demands of the heart. As he stumbles through potential romance, he becomes entangled in a sprawling morass of conspiracy theories that challenge his very concept of right, wrong, and reality.
The story is a strange romantic drama set in the modern world, particularly within the Tokyo S-ku Daini Shibu area. The narrative traces Watanabe's journey from isolated laborer to a man torn between love, doubt, and paranoia. Over the course of its run, the series builds through Watanabe's awkward attempts at connection and his deepening dive into alternative philosophies, ultimately navigating toward a resolution of his internal battle between rationality and the irrational pull of human feeling.
