Description
Satoko Sawamura, a high school teacher who dresses entirely in black and has sworn off love forever, is known by her students as Kuroko-sensei, a reference to the black-clad stage assistants in Kabuki theater who remain invisible while supporting the performance. After a painful romantic disappointment during her own high school years, she decided that the excitement and heartbreak of love were not for her, and that she would spend the rest of her life observing the romantic adventures of others from the shadows. True to this vow, she returns to her alma mater to teach, wearing head-to-toe black and keeping a low profile. However, her quiet existence is disrupted when she discovers the hidden side of Aoi Narinomiya, the school's most popular and seemingly perfect student, known as the Prince. He turns out to be far from the upright gentleman everyone believes, and he becomes inexplicably drawn to her, pursuing her with surprising persistence. At the same time, Satoko is forced to confront her past when she reunites with Gou Aramaki, her former homeroom teacher and the man who broke her heart years ago, who is now a colleague at the same school. Gou is married and living apart from his wife, but his presence reopens old wounds, and the unspoken feelings between them begin to resurface. The situation becomes even more tangled when it is revealed that Aoi is Gou's step-brother, creating a forbidden love triangle that blurs the lines between teacher and student, past and present, and brother and brother. As Satoko tentatively begins a new relationship with Aoi, her trauma surfaces again with the appearance of Gou's wife, a woman who seems to have played a role in the original breakup and who now returns with her own dangerous agenda. The narrative unfolds over four volumes, moving from a slow-burn romantic drama into a tense, four-way emotional conflict that tests loyalties and exposes long-hidden secrets. Aoi's determination to protect Satoko, Gou's lingering regret and concealed motives, and the wife's manipulative interference all collide, driving the story toward its climax. The final volume untangles the truth behind why Gou ended things with Satoko in the first place, forcing each character to confront what they truly want and who they are willing to hurt to get it. The setting is a Japanese high school where the professional and personal lives of the characters overlap constantly, creating an atmosphere of secrecy, risk, and heightened emotion. The manga is a romance drama with strong elements of forbidden love, featuring a heroine who must decide whether to remain in the shadows or step back onto the stage of love.
