Onodera Kensaku is a fifteen-year-old self‑taught martial artist who has never lost a street fight. That streak ends at a karate tournament when, during the award ceremony, he accidentally gropes the young woman handing him his prize; she drops him with a single high kick. Later, while rescuing a bespectacled student from a bully, the same woman appears and, mistaking Kensaku for the aggressor, effortlessly defeats him again. On the first day of the new school term, Kensaku learns that his mysterious opponent is Asato Nanae, his homeroom teacher.

A comedic, confrontational relationship develops between the two. Kensaku, still smarting from his humiliating losses, repeatedly challenges Asato, only to be outclassed by her superior technique and devastating high left kick. Asato, meanwhile, uses her position as his teacher to keep a teasing, often embarrassing upper hand over him.
