After suffering the setback of demotion and forced withdrawal from the Shōreikai, the training institute for professional shogi players, high school student Gintani Yuzuki abandoned the game entirely. He had no intention of touching a shogi board again—until his classmate Rurin Yoshikane discovered his past as a former institute member. The story follows Yuzuki’s journey of youth and recovery, a boy who once failed to become a professional and now must find a new relationship with the game he never truly let go.
