Description
In the chaotic streets of Ikebukuro, a new face arrives: Yoshimune Miyoshi, nicknamed Yoshi-Yoshi, who moves to the district because of his parents’ work. Soon after settling in, he meets three classmates from Raira Academy—Mikado Ryuugamine, Masaomi Kida, and Anri Sonohara—who show him around. Through them, Yoshi-Yoshi hears the same rumors that define the neighborhood: the legendary headless rider known as the Black Rider, the anonymous online gang called the Dollars, and the constant clashes between color gangs like the Yellow Scarves. What begins as simple curiosity about these urban legends quickly pulls him into a web of conspiracies that involve nearly every major power in Ikebukuro.
At the center of the turmoil is the information broker Izaya Orihara, who orchestrates a scheme linking three rival gangs with a local politician. Acting on Izaya’s orders, Yoshi-Yoshi finds himself helping with the politician’s campaign, but the situation spirals when Shizuo Heiwajima, the dangerously strong bartender who despises Izaya, is wounded and forced to flee from a group of mysterious men in suits. Yoshi-Yoshi must aid Shizuo while navigating the overlapping agendas of the Dollars, the Yellow Scarves, and other factions. Meanwhile, Celty Sturluson—the headless dullahan who works as an underworld courier—continues her search for her stolen head, adding a supernatural layer to the street-level violence.
The manga follows the same branching storylines as the PSP game on which it is based, written by Ryohgo Narita and illustrated by Izuko Fujiya. It highlights the interconnected fates of familiar characters—the ordinary-yet-secretive Mikado, the former Yellow Scarves leader Masaomi, the quiet wielder of the cursed blade Anri, the fierce but principled Shizuo, and the manipulative Izaya—while centering on Yoshi-Yoshi as a fresh vantage point into Ikebukuro’s hidden conflicts. The narrative arcs revolve around the escalating gang war, the hunt for Celty’s head, and the explosive confrontations that erupt when Izaya’s machinations finally snap.
