The Haruno household is a bustling all-female family of seven across three generations, led by the formidable grandmother Fujima Hagi, a film critic. Her daughters and granddaughters have been shaped by a long history of bad luck with men, resulting in a household where male presence is almost nonexistent. The two youngest members are identical twin sisters, Suzuna and Nazuna, who are complete opposites in temperament.
