At dawn on a snowy morning, office worker Hikari finds a man shivering on a bridge. He is depressed because he has lost something important to him, and he has two tails and cat ears, insisting that he is a nekomata, a cat spirit from Japanese folklore. Unable to leave the enigmatic figure alone, Hikari invites him into her home and agrees to help him search for what he lost. The nekomata, outwardly cool and aloof but occasionally showing a softer, more vulnerable side, begins to live with Hikari. As they share daily life and search for the lost item, Hikari finds herself increasingly flustered by the moments when his true feelings slip through his composed exterior. Their relationship gradually deepens, moving from a simple cohabitation arrangement into something warmer and more complicated. The story follows their awkward, heartwarming romance, with the nekomata’s mysterious past and the nature of what he lost unfolding across the narrative arcs. Later chapters introduce the nekomata’s changing feelings, a visit from another cat spirit called “nekomata-chan,” and Hikari’s own struggles with her growing emotions. Their journey is a clumsy love story between a kuudere nekomata and a caring, slightly flustered young woman navigating an unconventional relationship.
