Manga
Description
High school freshman Suzume Yatsuhara has always dreamed of a romance straight out of a shoujo manga. Eager to find love, she enrolls in a co-ed high school, but her plans take an unexpected turn when she is seated next to Azusa Mizutani, a boy so beautiful that he looks like a girl when dressed in female clothing. Azusa, a cross-dressing male student, immediately catches Suzume off guard with his stunning appearance and playful teasing. Despite her initial shock, Suzume finds herself drawn into Azusa's orbit as he begins to involve her in his daily life.

Suzume’s desire for a perfect romance clashes with her growing realization that she is awkward around boys and struggles to communicate with them. Her best friend, Hoshi, suggests that she try falling in love with Azusa, since she feels comfortable around him. Azusa, for his part, maintains a condition from the school that allows him to cross-dress only if he ranks in the top ten academically, which he does with ease. As Suzume learns more about Azusa—including his reasons for cross-dressing and his own emotional struggles—she begins to see him not just as a curiosity but as a genuine friend and potential love interest.

The story follows their evolving relationship through everyday school life, shared lunches, and mutual support. Suzume’s earnest attempts to understand love and herself are met with Azusa’s guarded yet increasingly caring responses. When other students mock Azusa for his appearance, Suzume steps in to defend him, revealing her growing attachment. Azusa, in turn, offers to help Suzume overcome her fear of boys by pretending to be a practice partner for romance. As they navigate misunderstandings, jealousy, and personal insecurities, both begin to confront their true feelings. The narrative explores themes of identity, self-acceptance, and the messy, unpredictable nature of first love.
