A duke's daughter is publicly confronted at a birthday party by her fiancé, Prince Atlas of the Benedict Kingdom. He informs her that their engagement is terminated because marrying a princess from a neighboring country better serves national interests. She suppresses her personal feelings and accepts the dissolution.

Immediately after her acceptance, a young man calls out and volunteers to become her new fiancé despite being a commoner. He is Victor, an attractive younger man who immediately appeals to the heroine.
