A bespectacled high school student, Takanodai Teruki, is a background figure in his class, barely noticed by anyone. The most popular girl in the grade, Koigakubo Keiko, does not even register his existence. One day he picks up one of her quiz answer sheets and finds a strange, scribbled phrase: "a rather unpleasant rake." Intrigued and acting on an uncomfortable impulse, he begins to investigate her. This decision triggers a rollercoaster of events that pull him into a bizarre and intimate relationship.

To his shock, Koigakubo starts calling him "god." They begin meeting alone every Friday afternoon in an old school building, a situation that seems too good to be true but is weighted with hidden circumstances. Adding to the complexity, rumors circulate that Koigakubo's mother is a fervent follower of a dubious new religion called "Yuni-sama no Fune" (The Boat of Lord Yuni). As the school cultural festival approaches, Takanodai is caught in a three-way tension: the intoxicating feeling of being worshipped as a deity, the guilt of exploiting the situation, and his genuine, pure feelings for Koigakubo. He must decide whether he wants to be revered as a god or loved as a human being. The story follows his distorted and awkward journey through love and adolescence, shaped by faith, deception, and the search for genuine connection.
