Nestled in an unnamed town, Guitar Shop Rosie is a small guitar repair shop run by two brothers, Angus and Malcolm. They are terrible at making money but are utterly devoted to AC/DC, rock music, and the craft of restoring guitars. Angus, the elder brother, is stocky, talkative, and wears his love for AC/DC on his sleeve, often handling customers. Malcolm, the younger brother, is tall and lanky, a quiet, highly skilled repairman who does the technical work. Their shop is perpetually on the edge of financial ruin, but they take on repair jobs that others would refuse, driven by a deep respect for the instrument and the emotions tied to it.

The story unfolds as an episodic human drama. Each chapter presents a new guitar brought in for repair, and through the process of fixing it, the hidden history and personal struggles of its owner are revealed. Guitars range from vintage classics to broken, discarded instruments, each carrying a unique weight. The first arc introduces a boy who brings in a headstock-shattered Rickenbacker lap steel, his great-grandfather’s guitar, which he needs restored in three days on a tiny budget to play for his dying great-grandmother. Despite the impossibility, the brothers take the job at a loss, working through the night.

As the series progresses, the shop gains new members. Hikako (real name Mitsuko) first comes as a customer and later becomes an apprentice, developing into a talented pickup winder. A guitar-obsessed boy named Teru also becomes a regular helper, his youthful enthusiasm balancing the brothers’ bickering. Notable narrative arcs include a mysterious client who leaves a disassembled Gibson RD with a vague promise to return in three days, prompting the team to reassemble it while wondering who he is and whether he will ever come back; and a classic guitar abandoned outside a house, which Hikako investigates, uncovering a lonely old man’s past. The later volumes deepen Hikako’s quest to replicate the legendary PAF pickup when rare vintage “Burst” guitar wood appears in the shop.

The setting remains the humble, cluttered workshop, where the smell of solder and old wood mingles with loud rock music. The core of the manga is the idea that every guitar holds a story—of love, loss, dreams, or regret—and that repairing it is an act of connecting people with their memories.
