Two schoolgirls, Inukubo Noa and Tamaki, are hit by a strange and inexplicable magic. The only way to break the spell is for Noa to genuinely fall in love with Tamaki. Noa’s inability to develop real feelings is rooted in a childhood trauma that once shattered her emotionally, making the simple act of becoming “friends” a psychological ordeal. As the pair explore increasingly desperate methods to reverse the magic—costumed encounters, public mishaps, and digital blackmail—their relationship shifts from frenzied physical release to sincere emotional vulnerability. In the third volume the tone turns darker as Noa confronts her past, and by the final volume the two girls finally face both the magic and their own fears, spending a first night together that represents the true resolution of their bond. The series concludes with their feelings having taken root, bringing the “nakayoshi” (friendship with benefits) comedy to a heartfelt end.
