Description
Masamune Hanzawa is a twenty-seven-year-old office worker running on exhaustion and convenience store meals, with no time for cooking or romance. At a coworker's suggestion, he reluctantly hires a housekeeping service that offers meal preparation, hoping for something more than the packaged food he has grown to hate. The person who arrives at his door is Natsuki Mikoshiba, a nineteen-year-old college student working a part-time job. Natsuki is reserved at first, tall, and quiet, but he immediately impresses Masamune with warm, home-cooked food. Overwhelmed by the simple pleasure of a proper meal, Masamune impulsively invites Natsuki to eat with him, and Natsuki responds with a sudden, direct confession: it is love at first sight. Masamune is caught off guard. He is undeniably attracted to Natsuki, but he hesitates. The age gap between them feels significant, and he is still nursing old wounds from a past failed relationship. The situation becomes even more complicated when he learns that Natsuki is the son of his section chief at work. What began as a transaction for food becomes a careful, slow-burning dance of avoidance and attraction. Masamune keeps pulling back, wary of the potential fallout, while Natsuki steadily, patiently moves closer. The first volume builds their relationship through shared meals and quiet tension without any physical intimacy, ending with Masamune beginning to lower his guard. In the second volume, the two have officially become a couple after working through earlier uncertainties. Masamune, giddy from having a romantic partner for the first time in a long while, plans a温泉 trip as a birthday gift for Natsuki, only to find that Natsuki seems strangely unable to enjoy himself. The story continues to explore how they navigate being together, with the same dynamic of Natsuki gently steering and Masamune learning to let go. The manga is set in contemporary Japan, mostly within Masamune's apartment and their workplaces, with food acting as both the catalyst for their connection and a recurring symbol of care and intimacy. The narrative follows Masamune's internal conflict between his desire for connection and his fear of vulnerability, while Natsuki's unwavering directness serves as the force that pushes the relationship forward.
