Far from the capital, in a secluded village where immortals are said to dwell, grow fragrant peaches imbued with divine Qi. Only the most beautiful girls, blessed with the purest holy Qi, are chosen to consume these peaches daily. By doing so, they become vessels of heavenly blessings—their skin naturally emitting the sweet scent of peach. They are known as the Immortal Peach Princesses, or Tao Niang. The sons of the emperor take these princesses as brides, seeking divine favor through the union of man and woman. This ritual is part of the empire's prosperity, but it also makes the princesses living sacrifices—their blood, flesh, and very existence exist to bestow power and grace upon the imperial family.

The story follows Zha're, a young woman selected to be the White Peach Princess, the bride of the White Prince, Zi Jing. Zha're feels honored by her selection and is prepared to fulfill her duty, especially on her first night when she is supposed to grant a divine blessing through physical union. However, to her confusion and disappointment, Prince Zi Jing does not come to her bed. Neither of them has ever experienced love, and their initial interactions are marked by awkwardness and coldness.
