Description
The story follows Act Enge, an adventurer who was once unjustly expelled from his guild and left bitter by the experience. Determined never to let the same thing happen to others, he establishes his own guild called Heaven’s Gem and rises to become an S‑rank guildmaster. However, because he repeatedly dismisses members from the guild, rumors spread that he is a corrupt tyrant. In truth, Act possesses a unique ability called Appraisal Eye, which allows him to see a person’s hidden talents and potential. Rather than simply firing people, he evaluates each member, identifies what they are truly suited for, and then arranges for them to move to a better position—often in another guild or a different profession where they can thrive. The expelled individuals, far from resenting him, end up deeply grateful for the opportunities he provides.
Act is supported by a colorful cast of loyal companions, including Frederica, a cool yet puppy‑like maid; a tomboy princess; and an absurdly strong hero. Together they help him run Heaven’s Gem, which becomes known as a place that takes in misfits and discarded adventurers and polishes them into first‑class talents. The story’s central irony is that Act’s reputation as a “corrupt guildmaster” grows precisely because of his success in relocating people, while those he helps consider him a benefactor.
As the narrative progresses, Act becomes involved in selecting members for a hero party to confront the Demon King. He continues to identify and nurture “rough gems” while also dealing with antagonists who try to interfere with his guild or take advantage of its members. Notable arcs include the introduction of a cross‑dressing boy, a long‑suffering childhood friend, and other eccentric recruits, each with their own backstory of being undervalued or abandoned. Through it all, Act maintains his pragmatic, no‑nonsense demeanor, insisting that his actions are purely for efficiency and profit—even as those around him see his generosity and care. The story is a comedic fantasy about second chances, hidden talents, and a guildmaster whose harsh exterior masks a sincere desire to help others find their rightful place in the world.
