After the nation of Pershiev is invaded by the rising power Daishir, aided by a traitorous uncle, the princess Ceres escapes with her elder brother, Prince Naga. They flee to the great empire of Tang, hoping to secure military aid. While Naga struggles to gain an audience with the Tang emperor, a ruler notorious for his indulgence in women and pleasure, Ceres resolves to infiltrate the imperial harem and use her beauty to seduce him, thereby winning the support her homeland desperately needs.

Disguising herself as a servant, Ceres enters the palace but quickly becomes lost. She is discovered by the crown prince, Jing Sheng, a man widely praised for his intelligence, discipline, and upright character. Suspicious of her appearance, he begins to interrogate her.
