Description
In 19th-century Paris, the grand opera house is rumored to be haunted by a mysterious phantom known only as F. Christine Daaé, a young chorus girl who has been unable to sing alone since the death of her beloved musician father, finds her life changed when she is unexpectedly forced to take the place of the prima donna for an upcoming performance. Plagued by fear and self-doubt, she seeks out the phantom in a forbidden rehearsal room, only to discover that F is actually Erik, a reclusive genius musician with a face hidden behind a mask. He is also the same red-eyed stranger who rescued her from the river days earlier. Erik agrees to become her voice teacher on a single strict condition: Christine must never love anything other than music itself—and especially not him. As they begin private lessons in the shadows of the opera house, Christine's heart gradually stirs with feelings she cannot name, while Erik, despite his own rule, grows increasingly possessive and troubled by her interactions with others, particularly the young nobleman Raoul. A figure from Erik's past, Daroga, appears and reveals more about the phantom's history, further complicating the emotional landscape. Meanwhile, a mysterious impostor posing as F begins to operate in the opera house, escalating tensions. Erik publicly declares that no one will be harmed until a celebratory concert two months later, using the declaration to pressure the true culprit. As the concert approaches, Christine and Erik must navigate their growing love against his self-imposed isolation, the threat of the impostor, and the weight of their different worlds. The story reimagines the classic tragedy into a sweeping romantic narrative, culminating in a conclusion that guides the famously sorrowful tale toward a happy ending.
