Joju, the first princess of the powerful nation of Dolman, loses the battle for the throne and is falsely branded as a villain who poisoned her stepmother. As punishment, she is forced into a political marriage with Emilion, the king of the small, remote border country of Ronino—a de facto exile to a land considered an enemy territory. Emilion, known as the Ice King for his cold demeanor, initially warns Joju not to expect love from him. Despite being rumored a wicked woman, Joju proves herself through intelligence and genuine kindness, gradually earning the respect and affection of the people of Ronino. Emilion, too, begins to open up to her. However, their budding relationship faces challenges: Emilion’s younger brother resents Joju and sabotages her belongings, and later the arrival of Emilion’s former fiancée Viola stirs romantic tension.
