Description
In the era of the Industrial Revolution, when belief in fairies and folklore has waned, a young orphan named Rosa finds herself utterly alone. After losing her relatives, she is driven from her home and robbed of her mother’s keepsakes, leaving her in despair. Her unusual blue eyes draw scorn from those around her, and she struggles to survive. Her life changes when the silver-haired nobleman Alvin, known as the “Prince of Silver,” reaches out to her. He offers her shelter and a position at his antique shop, the Blue Rose Antique, and gifts her a fine blue dress, beginning her transformation into a lady.
The story follows Rosa as she adapts to her new life and slowly grows closer to the enigmatic Alvin, who has his own hidden motivations. Alvin is dedicated to collecting antiques connected to fairy legends, driven by a traumatic event from his own childhood. Together, they delve into mysteries surrounding these objects, each case uncovering layers of history, deception, and lingering magic. Their first major arc involves a theft at a tea salon, which reveals Alvin’s true lineage and the secret of his “reversed” age relationship with a young nobleman named Cliff. Later, an artist’s tale of a mysterious woman who drains life from creators leads them to a decadent house party where a supposed fairy called a Leanan sídhe turns out to be a front for an opium ring. Here, Rosa recognizes her own former despair in the ring’s female master, and she and Alvin must escape a dangerous trap.
Subsequent arcs center on a bride’s parure—a set of jewelry linked to a murder and a portrait of a girl who looks exactly like Rosa. This investigation introduces Robin, a man who knows the truth about Rosa’s distinctive blue eyes and her own unknown origins. As Robin tries to approach Rosa, Alvin feels an unfamiliar surge of jealousy, deepening the romantic tension between them. The parure mystery ultimately forces Alvin to confront his own reckless disregard for danger while Rosa’s life is threatened. Throughout these intertwined mysteries, Rosa grows from a frightened, lonely girl into a resilient young woman, and Alvin’s guarded heart begins to open. Their bond deepens against the backdrop of a foggy, industrial London where fairy tales linger in antique objects—a gentle fairy tale forgotten by time.
