Description
A cabaret hostess known as Miao has grown up believing that money is the only thing that matters. Abused and neglected by her mother during childhood, she learned early that trust and love bring only pain. Now she works the floor of a hostess club, using her beauty and cold calculation to extract as much cash as possible from her clients, never letting anyone close. One night she is seated with a man who calls himself Kuzu, or Trash. He is there to gather information about her biggest spender, a wealthy businessman named Fukumochi Akira. Kuzu reveals that Fukumochi runs a covert voyeur website, funding his lavish spending at the club through illegal operations. Miao sees an opportunity. She lures Fukumochi into a car and causes a crash that kills him, taking the money he had with her. Soon after, she encounters a young girl named Mihara Nika, who is being abused by her own mother. Recognizing herself in the child, Miao reluctantly takes Nika in. But Fukumochi’s stolen cash attracts the attention of yakuza, who kidnap Nika to pressure Miao. Kuzu, whose real identity is revealed as police officer Kuryu, operates on both sides of the law. He has ties to the underworld and his own agenda, yet he becomes entangled with Miao in ways neither expected. As the story unfolds, Miao must navigate threats from criminals, the weight of her past, and the gradual, unsettling realization that some things cannot be bought. The narrative arc follows her slow, painful shift from seeing people as tools to opening herself to the possibility of connection, while Kuryu’s hidden motives and the dangerous world around them keep both characters in constant peril.
