Description
Blessed with extraordinary magical power, Rachel is betrothed to the crown prince of the kingdom. When a saint appears and threatens to take her place, Rachel succumbs to jealousy and commits terrible acts against her rival. Her engagement is annulled, she is exiled to a monastery, and on the way her carriage is attacked by bandits. She dies believing all is lost—but awakens three years in the past.
The return comes at a heavy price: almost all of her magic is gone, and her body has become so frail she can barely leave her bed. Determined not to repeat her mistakes, Rachel resolves to step away from court life and break off the engagement of her own accord. Yet to her bewilderment, the crown prince refuses to let her go. Worse, he begins to show her a genuine kindness she never experienced before, forcing her to confront the depth of her past cruelty.
As Rachel struggles to navigate a life without her former power, she discovers she has not lost everything: a dark spirit, never before seen in the world, appears at her side. With this mysterious companion and her slowly changing relationships, she sets out to alter the future and prove that even a fallen villainess can find redemption.
The story follows Rachel’s quiet but determined efforts to build a different destiny, balancing her family’s expectations, the prince’s growing feelings, and the unresolved threat posed by the saint. Along the way, she uncovers hidden manipulations in the church, forms new bonds with allies she once ignored, and learns to value the simple joys of a secluded life. A spin‑off, The Story of the Saintess Anna, explores the same events from the saint’s perspective, revealing the true nature of the conflict that originally destroyed Rachel’s first life.
