In a rural high school, Akiba Minoru is a solitary otaku who secretly cross-dresses as his favorite anime character in an empty clubroom after school, indulging in his one-sided oshi-katsu. His hidden hobby is exposed when Shibuya, a stunning gyaru he secretly admires, catches him in costume. Instead of rejecting him, she becomes fascinated and declares him her personal oshi layer, sparking an unlikely friendship between the two very different students. Shibuya slowly pulls Akiba out of his shell, encouraging him to attend cosplay events, take part-time jobs in costume, and even debut at a local convention. Their bond deepens through shared otaku activities and genuine emotional support, but complications arise when Akiba’s childhood friend reappears, introducing romantic tension and forcing everyone to confront their true feelings. The story builds toward Akiba’s participation in Comiket, where his growth as a cosplayer and as a person culminates.
