Description
An office worker named Aki dies a solitary death and wakes up to find herself possessing the body of Isabelle, a duke's daughter from a powerful noble family. Isabelle was known throughout high society as a selfish, arrogant young woman who was despised by nearly everyone. Her family paid her no attention, and the first prince she loved, Otis, coldly rejected her and became engaged to another noblewoman. Heartbroken and alone, the original Isabelle wasted away and died. Aki, having also known profound loneliness in her previous life, resolves to be the one person who truly loves Isabelle in her place. She sets out to protect Isabelle's body and dignity from those who hurt her, cutting off those who were cruel.

Almost immediately, however, Aki begins to notice that the people around her are acting strangely. Her distant father and younger brother, Damian, seem to be hovering with concern rather than indifference. Otis, the prince, shows signs of a complicated, possessive attachment that was never expressed clearly. A childhood friend named Lionel, whom Isabella had always overlooked, appears to have harbored deep feelings all along. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Isabelle was not truly unloved. Her family's affection was simply expressed poorly or overshadowed by duty, and the prince's rejection was tangled in political constraints he never explained. Other men in her orbit had obsessive, twisted feelings that manifested as hostility. Aki must navigate this web of misguided love, delayed confessions, and dangerous admirers, all while living in Isabelle's body and forming her own bond with Lionel. The manga follows her struggle to secure a genuine, happy future for the body she now inhabits, even as those who failed the original Isabelle try desperately to make amends far too late.
