However, the program is also tied to a competitive virtual reality fighting game where players, known as Burst Linkers, duel each other using customizable avatars. These avatars, called "Neuro Linkers," are manifestations of the players' deepest insecurities and desires, making each battle deeply personal and symbolic.

Haruyuki is granted the program by Kuroyukihime, who reveals herself to be a high-ranking Burst Linker known as the "Black King." She enlists Haruyuki's help to reach the highest level of the game, Level 10, a feat no player has yet achieved. Along the way, Haruyuki adopts the avatar "Silver Crow," a sleek, winged fighter that reflects his longing for freedom and escape from his real-world struggles. As Haruyuki grows more skilled, he forms alliances with other Burst Linkers, including his childhood friend Chiyuri Kurashima and the enigmatic Takumu Mayuzumi.
