Bernhard Völger

Bernhard Völger is a German voice actor, dialogue director, and dialogue writer, born on October 23, 1961, in Tegernsee. He has been active in the synchronization industry since the 1980s, amassing a portfolio of well over a thousand roles. Before focusing on voice work, he performed with a theatre touring ensemble in Germany.
Völger is particularly well-known within the German anime community for his extensive contributions. One of his most prominent roles is voicing the demon butler Sebastian Michaelis across multiple installments of the Black Butler franchise. This includes the anime series, the OVAs Black Butler: Book of Murder and the film Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic, as well as the live-action film adaptation. His involvement with the series extends beyond acting, as he also wrote the dialogue books and directed the German adaptations.
In addition to his iconic role in Black Butler, Völger has voiced numerous other anime characters. He is the voice of Shirou Ogami in the Trigger series BNA: Brand New Animal, a role for which he also served as dialogue director. He features in the works of director Makoto Shinkai, playing Yamada and the miniature donkey Zwergesel in the double feature Tokyo Marble Chocolate. Other notable anime roles include Hap in Eureka Seven and its film sequel Eureka Seven - good night, sleep tight, young lovers (where he plays Dominic Sorel), Guilmon in Digimon Tamers, Oolong in the Dragon Ball Z films, and Misao Yamamura in the long-running series Detective Conan.
Beyond animation, Völger is the established German voice for several Hollywood actors. He is the standard voice for comedian Marlon Wayans, including his roles in the Scary Movie films, and for actors Kevin Sussman, known as Stuart Bloom in The Big Bang Theory, and Scott Michael Campbell. He also lends his voice to characters in numerous live-action series, such as Morgan Grimes in Chuck, Eugene Porter in The Walking Dead, and Mr. Peanutbutter in BoJack Horseman.
