Chelo Vivares is a highly respected Spanish actress with an extensive career in television and voice acting, born Consuelo Vivares on April 21, 1952, in Madrid, Spain. She began her professional career in 1973, initially balancing work in theatre, radio, dubbing, and advertising. Her early on-screen appearances included roles in Spanish television series such as Cuentos y leyendas and La señora García se confiesa in the mid-1970s. She entered the world of dubbing professionally in 1979, providing Spanish voices for characters in films like The In-Laws and the series Fame.
Her career took a significant turn in 1983 when she became the principal puppeteer and performer for Espinete, the iconic pink hedgehog on Barrio Sésamo, the Spanish adaptation of Sesame Street. She portrayed this beloved character from 1983 until 1987, a role that made her a household name in Spain and earned her a TP de Oro award in 1984, a prestigious Spanish television award.
