Sophie Arthuys

Description
Sophie Arthuys is a French actress primarily known for her extensive work in voice dubbing, particularly for animated series and films. Born on March 14, 1957, she is the daughter of stage director Philippe Arthuys. Before focusing on performance, she studied fine arts and set design, initially pursuing a career in theater direction and scenography. Her entry into voice work came when her father, then the director of a dubbing company, invited her to try the profession. Actor Dominique Paturel, her colleague on the series Pour l'amour du risque, is credited with mentoring her and helping her secure work at a major dubbing agency, where she began by voicing child characters.

Arthuys is widely recognized for voicing young male protagonists and child characters in numerous anime and animated co-productions dubbed into French. Among her most notable roles are the title character in Marcelino, Pan y Vino, Huckleberry Finn in Les Aventures de Huckleberry Finn, and Lalabel in Le Monde Enchanté de Lalabel. She also voiced Kiki in Malicieuse Kiki, Tom-Tom in Tom-Tom et Nana, and Cindy in But pour Rudy, also known as Kickers. In the 2018 series Forest of Piano, she provided the voice for a young Shûhei Amamiya. Her film work in animation includes roles in Chicken Run as Mac Bec and Space Jam as the Nerdluck Bupkus.

Beyond these character voices, Arthuys has demonstrated her range by voicing adult characters, most notably as the regular French dubbing voice for actress Jennifer Love Hewitt. Her filmography also includes voices for characters in major franchises such as Suyin Beifong in The Legend of Korra and roles in various Power Rangers series. In addition to her acting, she has worked as an adapter for American television series, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and 24.
