Frank Welker is an American voice actor whose extensive career includes contributions to several English-language dubs of Japanese anime, most notably for films from Studio Ghibli. While he is primarily known for his prolific work in American animation, his involvement in anime demonstrates the crossover between the two industries, particularly for Disney's releases of Ghibli films in the mid-2000s.

Welker provided the character voices for Totoro and the Catbus in the 2005 Walt Disney Home Entertainment English dub of Hayao Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro. His performance in this dub is his most prominent and widely recognized anime role. Beyond this, his vocal work extends to other Studio Ghibli dubs produced by Disney during the same period. He contributed vocal effects for the character Gol in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and provided voices for the Mamma Aiuto Gang in Porco Rosso.

His work in English adaptations of anime is not limited to Ghibli. Welker also provided vocal effects for the Disney dub of Blood: The Last Vampire, the English version of Escaflowne: The Movie, and for the popular series Fairy Tail. Many of his roles in this area involve creating vocalizations for creatures and non-verbal characters, a specialty for which he is widely known. In recognition of his overall contribution to voice acting, which encompasses this anime work, Welker received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 43rd Annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards in 2016.
