Hiroko Suzuki

Hiroko Suzuki is a Japanese actress and voice actress born on February 10, 1944, in Yamagata Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent agency Ken Production. Suzuki began her career in the entertainment industry as a child actor with the NHK Children's Theater. While attending Aoyama Gakuin University, she transitioned into voice acting after being cast in a dubbing role for the actress Pascale Audret. During the 1960s, she was also active as a television drama actor and program host.
Suzuki has an extensive and long-running career in anime, with one of her earliest and most iconic roles being Francoise Arnoul, the cyborg known as 003, in the 1968 television series Cyborg 009. In 1971, she voiced the character Yukiko in the film Yasuji no Pornorama - Yatchimae!!. She also voiced Pepero, the protagonist of the 1975 television series Andes Shōnen Pepero no Bōken. Her filmography from this era includes roles such as Maya in Astroganger (1972) and Domini in the 1980 film Dracula: Sovereign Of The Damned. She also played Sara Uchida in the Kasei Yakyoku series. In the 1983 film Unico in the Island of Magic, she provided the voice for the character West Wind.
Throughout her decades of work, Suzuki has taken on a wide variety of roles, often portraying mothers, mentors, or characters with authority and grace. In the 1990 film Chinpui: Eri-sama Katsudō Daishashin, she voiced Eri's mother. Later roles include Yukie Mishiro in Ginban Kaleidoscope (2005) and the White Snake Sage in both Naruto (2013) and its sequel series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations (2018). She is also well-known to fans of Detective Conan as the voice of Elena Miyano.
Beyond anime, Suzuki is highly respected for her work in dubbing foreign films and television dramas. She has been the regular Japanese-language voice for numerous acclaimed actresses, including Meryl Streep, Catherine Deneuve, Diane Keaton, and Sigourney Weaver.
